Welcome to Saying It Right.

Thank you for acknowledging my blog. Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself and explain my venturing into this (intimidating) world of social media.

I created this site in order to express, and disseminate, my opinions on divers [look it up!] issues—from domestic politics to education, from foreign affairs to language. Although I am fortunate to have had many Letters to the Editor published over the years, I look forward to reaching a different and broader audience—and to generating more dialogue—through Substack.

I grew up in New York City, but South Florida has been my (our) home for the past 49 years.  Here I practiced dermatology for 45 years before retiring 4 years ago. I am politically conservative, especially concerning fiscal responsibility and foreign affairs, more tolerant of “liberal” positions on social issues. I am also passionate—some might say pathologically so—about grammar and usage. I wrote a manuscript (technically it is not a book until it is published!) that compiles and comments on decades of written and spoken solecisms, and I plan to share some of those discussions in future postings.

It is, therefore, in both senses of the word Right that I will try to present thoughtful and provocative commentaries. I thank you for your indulgence and welcome equally thoughtful and provocative responses. And I hope that I will be worthy of your subscription to Saying It Right.
